FUNCTIONAL LAYOUT
The first stage is about understanding the client’s needs. We are not yet discussing which sofa model should be placed in the living room or which shade of stool will work best with the interior. This is the time to talk about your preferences, habits and favourite colours.
We also discuss the budget for finishing the apartment. The aim is not simply to create a beautiful image, but a design that can become a successful real-life project.
At this stage, I prepare two or three possible furniture layouts and, where relevant, proposed changes to the walls. At the end of the stage, we select one layout that will be developed further.
This is also when we talk about the style and character of the interior. You do not need to know the exact name of a particular style. It is simply terminology, and it is not the most important thing. We can talk about your inspirations, hobbies or favourite holidays. All of these things can influence the atmosphere of your home, and ultimately, that is what matters most.
CONCEPT DESIGN
The selected room layout and furniture arrangement are developed in greater detail. Once we have established a visual direction that feels right for the client, we can move on to creating interior visualisations.
This is an important stage because it allows you to see how the future interiors will look and feel. It also includes an initial selection of furniture and the identification of suitable manufacturers and suppliers.
At the end of this stage, you receive interior visualisations and a detailed floor plan with the basic dimensions.
TECHNICAL DESIGN
Once the visualisations have been approved, the project moves into the technical design stage. Detailed drawings are prepared for the contractors responsible for carrying out the work.
The electrical contractor can see exactly where each socket should be located and at what height each light should be installed. The joiner can use the drawings to prepare an accurate quotation for bespoke furniture and prepare for the construction stage more efficiently.
The drawings also allow the general contractor to prepare a more precise estimate of the works.
At this stage, I also provide a cost estimate detailing the required materials and recommendations for where to purchase them. These are suppliers and showrooms that I regularly recommend to my clients and that offer carefully selected, original materials.
